Muchos Pantaloons

Originally a progressive rocker and fusion bassist with a Pastorius predilection, Masaaki Tsuji started his own direction to compensate for what he felt his ears lacked. After a period of multitrack experimentation in his 20s, his music was put on hold for work and family.

After restarting making music 15 years ago, Muchos Pantaloons represents one half of the year of his musical regimen, which is part of a larger musical plan. In spring and autumn, he can be found in parks honing his acoustic instrumental skills and laying down tracks on a portable multitrack recorder. The instruments are wide-ranging, including fretless bass, kalimba, steel drums, bottles, and even original instruments of his own construction. This park practice is exactly that, practice, a discipline, to improve according to his chosen path, getting things in a regular “orbit” which he can maintain as long as he's alive.
